Matthew nabs another podium, looks forward to special weekend of racing

LITTLE ROCK, Iowa (July 22, 2025) -- The annual July 2-day weekend was this past weekend at Plessis Motor Speedway. We were only able to race the first night, as MyRacePass obligations had us at Huset's on Saturday, but Matthew matched his best finish ever and collected another podium!

The night started as it typically does, with Matthew drawing back row of his heat. The Little Rock, IA driver was able to overcome that draw in a big way, as he traded in his 5th place starting position for a 3rd place finish. Things were rocky off the start as well fell to 6th off the jump. Matthew patiently picked off opponents one at a time over the course of 10 laps into a 3rd place finish.

Come feature time, the heat performance lead to a front row starting spot! Things were rocky at the drop of the green flag as crew chief dad created an issue with the throttle cable. By turn one Matthew fell to 4th. Just one lap later we made a good pass to move to third. The top 4 competitors went nose-to-tail for the rest of the race with no one really able to get an advantage. Matthew ended up 3rd at the checkered flag. It's his 3rd career 3rd place run, matching his best ever finish.

The missed night pushed Matthew back to 4th in points, just 12 points out of 3rd. We'll be back at Plessis the rest of the season to try to move back into the top 3 in standings.

Next up is a special weekend of racing, as on Thursday we'll be at the newly constructed race track on the Plymouth County Fairgrounds for the first ever race in LeMars, IA. Hot laps will start at 6pm with racing to follow. We will have hero cards on hand! Saturday is still up in the air, but Kee Kart Speedway in Cherokee, IA and Atwater Karting Speedway in Atwater, MN are still options.
