Matthew scores a runner up, strengthens hold on 3rd in points
LITTLE ROCK, Iowa (August 22, 2025) -- Last Saturday was an outstanding night of racing for Matthew behind the wheel winged kart. Matthew recorded his best ever finish, and captured the hard charger award for most positions gained in the feature.
The night started as it traditionally does in 2025. The random draw for starting heat race lineups saw Matthew again start in the back row of his heat. On the initial jump the Little Rock Rocket fell back to 4th, but he was quickly able to maneuver back into the 3rd spot. After an outstanding battle with Dakota Schleef in that heat, Matthew would finish right where he started in 3rd.
On to the main event! The 3rd place heat finish was good for a 6th place starting position in the A Feature. Boy was it a good one! After the first set of turns we already ran in 5th! An early race caution just 3 laps in pushed Matthew up the order into 4th. A battle ensued for the next 5 laps of the race, but eventually Matthew got a good run off of turn 4 and put his kart into the 3rd spot with a nice pass on the inside of turns 1 & 2.
That's when things got even more exciting! Another yellow forced a restart with just 5 laps to go, and our little driver put the kart into "beast mode" and flew around the outside of a competitor to move into the runner up spot. Matthew was able to shrink the margin down to the leader as the laps wore on, but eventually ran out of time as the checkered flag flew on his best career finish. A runner up for the first time! Matthew also gained 4 positions in the feature, good for the hard charger award.
