Matthew wins his first ever feature!
LITTLE ROCK, Iowa (September 2, 2025) -- It was a big night for Matthew Lloyd last Saturday at Plessis Motor Speedway! After nearly 3 years of trying, Matthew finally picked up career win number 1!
The night started as it always does in 2025. The random draw for starting heat race lineups saw Matthew again start in the back row of his heat. From his 5th place starting position, Matthew was quickly able to maneuver into the 4th spot. His back-row starting mate Case Hommes was able to pass Matthew, but then they both worked their way to the front together eventually coming from 5th and 6th on the starting grid to finishing first and second, with Matthew on the back end of those two.
On to the main event! The 2nd place heat finish was good for an outside of the front row starting position in the A Feature. Boy was it a good one! Hommes started on the pole and jumped out to the early lead with Matthew close behind. Those two pulled away from the rest of the field while they battled for the lead. Matthew was able to pull side-by-side with Hommes two different times in that feature without completing the pass, but finally with around 5 laps to go he made his move to the inside coming down the front stretch and completed the pass in turns one and two. Matthew lead the rest of the way and was able to make his first trip to victory lane!
From a season points perspective, This will lock up 3rd in the season points standings for Matthew on the season at Plessis. In previous years Matthew's final point positions have been 7th and 9th, respectively, so this has been an awesome points season for Matthew, and capping it off with a win is just awesome.
We have one event left on our schedule right now. We will potentially look at others, but as of now our final race will be the Bullring Nationals at Plesses on Saturday, September 27th
